One of our favourite chicken breeds over at Incredible Eggs London and East is Silkies.
Below are some photographs taken from this year, following one of our breeding pairs.
February 2017 – We notice Mr. and Mrs. Gold Silkie guarding the hedge. We take a sneaky peek and find a hidden nest of eggs!
11th March 2017 – Mothers Day! Mrs. Silkie comes off her nest followed by 6 gorgeous chicks!
April 30th 2017 – The chicks are 7 weeks old. Mr. Silkie takes his responsibilities very seriously and guards Mum and babies. He always stays close to them and at feeding time he lets Mum and chicks eat before him.
29th June 2017 – The chicks are just over 3 months old. Here they are in their dust bath in the wildflower garden, with Dad. But where is Mum? Busy sitting on more eggs! Her second brood of chicks are due any day now!
